Welcome
to the Darien Community Association The
Darien Community Association, Inc. is a unique
not-for-profit organization with a three-fold
mission: to provide educational,
cultural, recreational and civic programs;
to generate funds for scholarships and other
philanthropic works within the community;
and to maintain Meadowlands
as a
community resource.
For
over 85 years the DCA has stressed these goals
in serving the people of lower Fairfield County. We offer
our members fun, fellowship and friendships
through a wide variety of stimulating groups, programs,
lectures, courses, trips and other special events.
At the same time,
we serve this widespread community through our
philanthropies including our
scholarship program for Darien High School
and returning college students. Our
beautiful home, Meadowlands, is listed on the National
Register of Historic Places. It encompasses almost eight
acres of land and includes a bird sanctuary, nature trails,
a greenhouse and a formal garden maintained by
DCA volunteers. Meadowlands is a perfect setting for
weddings, parties and corporate functions. .Membership
in the DCA is open to everyone !
Come
join us.

EVE
MAUGER

our
volunteer of the YEAR!
The Darien Community Association nominates
Eve Mauger as its Volunteer of the Year. For over 7
years, Eve has been directly involved or in charge of
overseeing the DCA’s Historic Formal Garden -
and more recently added in the oversight of our grounds
as well. Eve has chaired the DCA Garden Club for many
years as well as our Greenhouse Group. Those of you
here today who have wandered the garden outside will
see Eve Mauger’s work – the beauty of the
flowers and plants that appear for three seasons. In
fact, whenever any problem with our grounds occurs,
Eve has stepped up and taken charge. And finally, Eve
has moved over to the DCA Thrift Shop, where she is
currently “redoing” the front of our downtown
property. Please stop by and see her magic! The DCA
is so grateful to Eve for the endless hours of time
she has spent planting, buying plants, shoveling, raking,
digging, pulling weeds, watering, and teaching others.
Eve – the DCA grounds and gardens, and the Thrift
Shop would not be the same without you! The DCA says
Thank You!!
